Visual Stimulation through Artistic Interpretation

May 06, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

Creativity, can be described as the use of one’s imagination of original ideas, portrayed through works of artistic interpretation and used to stimulate the mind of many. This form of visual stimulation is shared by many members of the Scantic River Artisans, a group of Painters, Photographers, Sculptors, Crafters and Trades-people. For years, these local artists have been coming together as a group to share their work with the local communities in which they live in.

The Scantic River Artisans, commonly referred to as SRA, are based out of their new home located at 104 Allen St. in Hampden, MA. SRA has been on a mission recently, in hosting an abundance of Art Gala’s as a way of giving back to the Arts Community. The most recent show, “It’s a Spring Art Thing”, ran April 29th and 30th, which included artist displays across all mediums, artist meet and greets and even a live violinist for musical ambiance. The spring art show was a great success and the SRA has been steadily gaining a following from the local community in result of these on going shows.

SRA would like to congratulate artist Christine Sterritt, winner of the People’s Choice award, where visitors to the spring art show selected Christine’s watercolor painting, “Peony in White” as best in show. Christine says her love for flowers is the main inspiration behind most of her People's Choice Winner, Christine Sterritt paintings, and that this particular painting was modeled from a photo in which one of her instructors had taken.

In addition to the seasonal art shows hosted at 104 Allen St, the SRA is proud to announce that they have a three week Art Showcase, running from May 8th through May 27th at the Wilbraham Library, located at 25 Crane Park Dr. in Wilbraham. A reception for the SRA will be held on May 13th from 12pm-2pm with artist meet and greets. Regular viewings can also been seen during normal library hours, listed at the library's website, www.wilbrahamlibrary.org.
